LeasePlan UK Limited (LeasePlan) and ALD Automotive Limited (ALD) are currently merging their businesses. As a result of this, LeasePlan are now in the process of selling their broker introduced customers' vehicles and transferring the benefit of the underlying contracts from LeasePlan to ALD. If you took out your Business Contract Hire (BCH) vehicle contract with LeasePlan, but have now been transferred to ALD, you will have received communication to advise you of this.

A BCH agreement is a leasing agreement where your business will pay a monthly rental amount for the hire of the vehicle. It’s important to understand that unlike a credit agreement, under a BCH agreement, your business will never own the vehicle.

BCH is suitable for sole traders, small partnerships (three partners or less), private limited companies, large partnerships (more than three partners), limited liability partnerships, public limited companies, charities (with some rare exceptions) and local authorities.

If you’re a sole trader or small partnership (three partners or less) with a BCH agreement where the total payments due don’t exceed £25,000, your agreement will be covered by the Consumer Credit Act - 1974 (CCA). If your contract is covered by the CCA, this will be stated within the contract.

A BCH agreement may be suitable for VAT-registered businesses where the VAT that the rentals attract is able to be claimed back from His Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

**Vehicle owner and option to purchase**

If you have a BCH agreement with us, we will be the owner and registered keeper for the duration of the agreement.

If you’re interested in purchasing your BCH vehicle at the end of your contract, please contact your broker to discuss the options that might be available.

**Vehicle Excise Duty (VED)**

VED is included in your monthly rentals. We’ll only charge you if there’s any annual increase in your vehicle’s VED rate, and you’ll receive a recharge invoice for the amount due. The payment for any annual increases will be taken automatically by Direct Debit, providing you have an active Direct Debit in place.

**Mileage changes**

Changes to your mileage limit are allowed during the term of your agreement. Any increase in the cost of your agreement due to these changes will be spread over your remaining monthly payments.

- The minimum mileage is 5,000 miles per year
- The maximum overall mileage must not exceed the below limits:

o Petrol, Hybrid Petrol and Electric: 150,000

o Diesel Cars, Hybrid Diesel and Plug-in Diesel: 160,000

o Diesel Vans: 200,000

**Contract term change**

Changes to your contract term are allowed during the term of your agreement. Any increase in the cost of your agreement due to these changes will be spread over your remaining monthly payments.

If you’d like to extend your contract term, you’ll need to wait until six months after your contract has started and no later than the second to last month of your contract agreement end date. Your request must result in there being at least six months remaining on your contract.

- The minimum term is 24 months
- The maximum term is 84 months

Please note: we are unable to offer a term change within the first 6 months of your contract.

**Ending your agreement early**

You may have the option of completing an early termination.

**End of contract options**

At the end of your BCH agreement, the vehicle will need to be returned to us. You’ll need to contact us or your broker to arrange an end of contract collection. We recommend contacting us at least five working days before the end of your agreement to ensure the vehicle is collected at a time that suits you.

You may be charged an ‘aborted collection fee’ if the vehicle is not available, has a dirty interior/exterior that impacts the ability to complete a detailed inspection or is in an unroadworthy
 condition, for example illegal tyres, invalid MOT, warning lights on the dashboard or less than 100% charge remaining on the battery. Additional fees may be charged if a low-loader is required to uplift your vehicle.

**Lease extensions**

If you’d like to extend your BCH agreement, you may be able to enter a formal extension. Please refer to the ‘Contract term changes’ section of this article for more information.
 If you don’t return your vehicle or extend your term by your end of contract date, you’ll automatically enter an extended term. We’ll invoice you each month to let you know the rental amount due and we’ll take your payment by Direct Debit on your normal monthly payment date. During the extended term, we can request the vehicle be returned to us at any time. If this is necessary, we will provide you with at least 7 days’ notice. You can find more details about this in your contract.

**Final Payments**

Your monthly rental payments cover the cost of your BCH agreement, so there won’t be any fixed large final payment due at the end of your agreement. However, the vehicle will need to be returned in a good condition and if damage is beyond 'fair wear and tear' you’ll be charged for the damage.

You may also be charged for missing service history if these haven’t been carried out or evidence has not been provided.

Your agreement will include a mileage allowance. If you exceed this agreed mileage, you’ll need to pay an excess mileage charge. This charge is calculated based on a pence per mile rate, which you can find in your agreement.

As a result of this, LeasePlan are now in the process of selling their broker introduced customers' vehicles and transferring the benefit of the underlying contracts from LeasePlan to ALD. If you took out your Contract Purchase (CP) vehicle contract with LeasePlan, but have now been transferred to ALD, you will have received communication to advise you of this.

Contract Purchase is a flexible agreement suitable for VAT registered companies and businesses. This type of agreement gives you the option (subject to the terms of the agreement) to either buy the vehicle or return the vehicle to us. Your company’s agreement will be for a fixed term and mileage. We aren’t able to adjust your term and mileage during your business’s agreement, so it’s important that you fully consider your business’s requirements when taking out this type of agreement.

Contract Purchase is suitable for sole traders, small partnerships (three partners or less), private limited companies, large partnerships (more than three partners), limited liability partnerships, public limited companies, charities (with some rare exceptions) and local authorities.

If you’re a sole trader or small partnership (three partners or less) with a CP agreement where the total payments due don’t exceed £25,000, your agreement will be covered by the Consumer Credit Act - 1974 (CCA). If your contract is covered by the CCA, this will be stated within the contract.

**Vehicle owner and option to purchase**

If you have a CP agreement with us, we will be the owner and registered keeper for the duration of the agreement. Your business will become the owner of the vehicle once they’ve paid all the required instalments (including the Final Instalment), the Option to Purchase fee and any other sums your business owes under their agreement. At this point, we’ll transfer ownership of the vehicle and arrange for the log book (V5c) to be put into your business’s name.

- Part-exchange the vehicle for another vehicle

**Becoming the owner of the vehicle**

If your business would like to take full ownership of the vehicle at the end of the agreement, they’ll need to pay all of the instalments (including the Final Instalment), the Option to Purchase fee and any other sums your business owes under the agreement. The value of your business’s Option to Purchase fee and Final Instalment can be found in your business’s agreement.

**Handing the vehicle back to us**

If your business would prefer not to pay the Final Instalment and Option to Purchase fee, subject to your business complying with the terms of the agreement, you can arrange to return the vehicle to us instead. If you’d like to go ahead with this option, you’ll need to contact us to arrange a suitable time for the vehicle to be collected:

- If your contract is not regulated by the CCA, you’ll need to arrange this with us before your end of contract date, once this date has passed, this option may not be available
- If your contract is regulated by the CCA, you will need to arrange this with us before your Final Instalment is due, once this date has passed, this option may not be available

Please be aware that if you decide to return the vehicle, your business will be liable for any damage and excess mileage charges in line with the terms of your business’s agreement.

**12-month extension**

If your company’s CP contract is not regulated by the CCA and you do not return or purchase the vehicle by the end of contract date, you may have the option to enter a 12-month extension, also known as a ‘Sliding Scale’. You can find out more about the CCA at the beginning of this article. You will need to check your contract to see if this option is available to you.

If you enter a 12-month extension, you’ll no longer have the option of returning the vehicle to us and your company will continue to pay the existing monthly payments. During this extension period you can purchase the vehicle at any time (please refer to your agreement for further details on this). Your Final Instalment will reduce each month, allowing your company to ultimately purchase the vehicle at 60% of the original Final Instalment amount at the end of the 12-month extension.

During this extension period, your company will be able to purchase the vehicle at any time at a percentage of the optional final payment as seen below:

Part-exchanging for another vehicle**

The supplier of your business’s new vehicle may be willing to pay off the balance on your business’s agreement and accept your business vehicle as a trade-in against the new vehicle. This would end your business’s agreement with us, however your business would not become the owner of the vehicle.

**Contract changes**

CP agreements do not offer the option to extend your term or change your mileage allowance during the term of the agreement, so it is important that you fully consider your business’s requirements when taking out this type of agreement.

If your business’s contract is not regulated by the CCA, and you do not return or purchase the vehicle by the end of contract date, you’ll enter a 12-month extension. **Final Payments**

CP agreements include a Final Instalment and an Option to Purchase fee. If your business would like to become the owner of the vehicle, they’ll need to pay both final payments. The value of your Final Instalment and Option to Purchase fee can be found in your business’s agreement.

If your company would prefer not to pay the Final Instalment and Option to Purchase fee, you can request to return the vehicle to us. Please refer to the ‘End of Contract options’ section of this article for further information.

As a result of this LeasePlan are now in the process of selling their broker introduced customers' vehicles and transferring the benefit of the underlying contracts from LeasePlan to ALD. If you took out your Finance Lease vehicle contract with LeasePlan, but have now been transferred to ALD, you will have received communication to advise you of this.

A Finance Lease agreement is a rental agreement suitable for sole traders, small partnerships (three partners or less), large partnerships (four partners or more) and companies.

Although ALD will be the legal owner of your vehicle, there is an option for you to sell your vehicle on our behalf to a dealership or a third-party company registered on Companies House. You can find out more about this option in the ‘End of contract options’ section of this article.

If you are a sole trader or small partnership (three partners or less) with a Finance Lease agreement where the total payments due do not exceed £25,000, your agreement will be covered by the Consumer Credit Act - 1974 (CCA).

If your contract is covered by the CCA, this will be stated within the contract.

**Registered keeper and option to sell**

LeasePlan will remain the registered keeper of your vehicle throughout your agreement and ownership can’t be transferred to you.

Finance Lease contracts can be suitable for VAT-registered businesses because the VAT that the rentals attract can be claimed back from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC). Due to these tax benefits, the HMRC won’t allow us to sell a Finance Lease vehicle directly to our customer.

However, this type of agreement gives you the option to sell the vehicle on ALD’s behalf, either to:

- A third-party company registered on Companies House; or
- A dealership.
- You may also have the option of returning the vehicle to ALD to sell on your behalf, if you go ahead with this option, fees may apply.

**Vehicle Excise Duty (VED)**

If VED is not included in your rentals, then you will receive a yearly invoice from us to cover the full VED rate. You can find out if VED is included in your rentals by checking your contract.

**Early settlement**

If you’d like to end your Finance Lease agreement early, you can request an early settlement quote. To request a quote, please contact us on 03700 011 181 or at [customerrelations@aldautomotive.com](targetSelf:mailto:customerrelations@aldautomotive.com). Please include your vehicle registration number or account reference number in your email or have these details to hand when you call.

This early settlement quote will show the amount that needs to be paid to end your agreement. To settle your agreement, you’ll need to arrange to sell the vehicle to a dealership or a third-party company registered on Companies House. Please be aware that the third-party company must be unconnected to you or your business. You may also have the option of returning the vehicle to ALD to sell on your behalf, if you go ahead with this option, fees may apply.

You’ll need to return all the signed paperwork to us before arranging for the payment to be made to ALD. We’re happy to accept payment from either you or the company/dealer purchasing your vehicle. We’ll then process this to end your agreement and refund any balance due back to you.

Upon sale of the vehicle, you will be entitled to 98% of the sales proceeds.

Please be aware that any balance refund due can take up to 14 working days to display in your bank account.

Please note: this time frame may be increased in certain circumstances. **End of contract options**

At the end of your Finance Lease agreement’s primary term, you have three options:

- Keep the vehicle for a secondary term
- Sell the vehicle to a third-party company registered on Companies House or a dealership
- You may also have the option of returning the vehicle to ALD to sell on your behalf, if you go ahead with this option, fees may apply.

**Continuing into a secondary term**

If you’d like to continue to lease your vehicle at the end of your primary term, you have the option to move into a secondary term. With this option, you can keep the vehicle on contract with us until either party terminates the agreement during the secondary term period.

If you decide to go into the secondary term:

- Your balloon payment (where relevant) will become due at the end of your primary term
- All outstanding balances must be cleared/paid off. Your settlement quote will include any arrears connected to the vehicle
- Secondary term rentals , sometimes referred to as a ‘peppercorn rental’, will be payable once a year instead of your regular monthly rental. You can find your peppercorn rental amount in your contract. This will be invoiced and be payable in advance
- You can keep the vehicle in the secondary term until either party terminates the agreement

- Your agreement can be terminated at any time during this secondary term period

- To terminate your agreement, you’ll need to sell the vehicle to a dealership, or a third-party company registered on Companies House. You may also have the option of returning the vehicle to ALD to sell on your behalf, if you go ahead with this option, fees may apply

**Selling your vehicle at the end of the primary term**

If you have a Finance Lease agreement, there is no option for you to purchase and become the owner of the vehicle. However, you can sell the vehicle on our behalf to a dealership or a third-party company registered on Companies House. Please be aware that the third-party company must be unconnected to you and your business.

It is important that you contact us prior to selling your vehicle to obtain the paperwork for the sale, as the documentation and the sale proceeds will need to go through ALD Automotive. We will then process this to end your agreement and refund any balance due back to you.

Upon sale of the vehicle, you will be entitled to 98% of the sales proceeds as stated in your contract.

Please be aware that any balance refund due can take up to 14 working days to display in your bank account.

**Final Payments**

Your agreement includes a balloon payment/lump sum, which is due at the end of the primary term contract. The value of your balloon payment can be found in your agreement. Please Note: your balloon payment may be zero value.

Lease Purchase (LP) is a flexible non-maintained agreement suitable for VAT registered companies and businesses. Your business will pay an initial deposit and then a series of monthly payments until the end of the agreed contract length. This type of agreement gives you the option (subject to the terms of the agreement) to buy the vehicle. You may also have the option to return the vehicle to us. Your business’s agreement will be for a fixed term and mileage. A PCH agreement is a leasing agreement suitable for private individuals where you pay a monthly rental amount for the hire of the vehicle. Unlike a credit agreement, there is no contractual right to purchase the vehicle under a PCH agreement.

**Vehicle owner and option to purchase**

If you have a PCH agreement with us, LeasePlan will remain the registered keeper for the duration of the agreement.

If you’re interested in purchasing your PCH vehicle at the end of your contract, please contact your broker to discuss the options that might be available.

During the extended term, we can request the vehicle be returned to us at any time. If this is necessary, we will provide you with at least 7 days’ notice.

**Final Payments**

Your monthly rental payments cover the cost of your PCH agreement, so there won’t be any fixed large final payment due at the end of your agreement. However, the vehicle will need to be returned in a good condition and if damage is beyond 'fair wear and tear' you’ll be charged for the damage.
  
 You may also be charged for missing service history if these haven’t been carried out or evidence has not been provided.

Your agreement will include a mileage allowance. If you exceed this agreed mileage, you’ll need to pay an excess mileage charge. This charge is calculated based on a pence per mile rate, which you can find in your agreement.

What is a migrated LeasePlan Drivewise agreement?

LeasePlan UK Limited (LeasePlan) and ALD Automotive Limited (ALD) are currently merging their businesses. As a result of this LeasePlan are now in the process of selling their broker-introduced customers' vehicles and transferring the benefit of the underlying contracts from LeasePlan to ALD. If you took out your Drivewise vehicle contract with LeasePlan, but have now been transferred to ALD, you will have received communication to advise you of this.

Drivewise is a flexible agreement for private individuals giving you the option (subject to the terms of the agreement) to either buy the vehicle or return the vehicle to us. Your agreement will be for a fixed term and mileage.

**Vehicle owner and option to purchase**

If you have a Drivewise agreement with us, LeasePlan will remain the registered keeper for the duration of your agreement. You’ll become the owner of the vehicle once you have paid all the required instalments (including the Final Instalment) and any other sums you owe under your agreement. At this point, we’ll transfer ownership of the vehicle and arrange for the logbook (V5c) to be put into your name.
  
**Vehicle Excise Duty (VED)**

VED, previously known as Road Fund Licence (RFL), may be included in your monthly rentals. If this is the case, then we’ll only charge you if there’s any annual increase in your vehicle’s VED rate. If VED is not included in your rentals, then you will receive a yearly invoice from us to cover the full VED rate. You can find out if VED is included in your rentals by checking your contract.

**Ending your agreement early**

If you’d like to end your agreement early, you may be able to request an Early Settlement to purchase the vehicle before your agreement expiry date. You may also be able to request a Voluntary Termination to return the vehicle to ALD before your agreement expiry date.
  
**End of contract options**

At the end of your agreement, you have two available options:

- Become the owner of the vehicle
- Hand the vehicle back

**Becoming the owner of the vehicle**

If you’d like to take full ownership of the vehicle at the end of your agreement, you’ll need to pay all the instalments (including the Final Instalment), and any other sums you owe under your agreement. The value of your Final Instalment can be found in your agreement.
  
**Handing the vehicle back**

If you’d prefer not to pay the Final Instalment, you can arrange to return the vehicle instead. You’ll need to contact us to arrange a suitable time for your vehicle to be collected.

You’ll need to arrange this with us before your end of contract date. Once this date has passed, this option may not be available.

**Contract changes**

Drivewise agreements don’t offer the option to extend your term or change your mileage allowance. If you’d like to continue using the vehicle beyond the end of the agreement, you’ll need to become the owner of the vehicle as detailed in the ‘Becoming the owner of your vehicle’ section of this article.

**Final Payments**

Your agreement includes a Final Instalment. If you’d like to become the owner of your vehicle, you’ll need to pay this. The value of your Final Instalment can be found in your agreement.

Changes to my agreement in April, May or June 2025

If you have received a Direct Debit confirmation letter or initial rental invoice, you will have been informed that your LeasePlan agreement has been assigned to us, ALD Automotive Limited (ALD) in April, May or June 2025. We have done this so that we can focus our teams and support customers more effectively as we work towards becoming Ayvens in the UK.

As a result of this assignment, we have transferred your Direct Debit agreement to ALD.

**Good to know**

- ALD will take the Direct Debit and be listed on your bank statement
- ALD will take the Direct Debit on the 24th of each month or the next working day
- You will receive an initial rental invoice for your first payment to us
- Please don’t change or cancel your LeasePlan Direct Debit. We’ll do this for you once all pending invoices have cleared. Cancelling may result in overdue payments
- Your account number won’t change, but you may notice that we have added an ‘S’ before the ‘A-‘ and removed the hyphen (for example, A-012345 changes to SA012345), which will show on your Direct Debit set up letter and your bank account
- You don’t need to complete a new Direct Debit Instruction, as we’ll notify your bank (they may also contact you independently)
- You may also see a comment on your bank statement about the final payment under LeasePlan UK Limited and the first payment under ALD Automotive Limited
- You’ll continue to have the benefits of the Direct Debit Guarantee

Can I end my agreement early if it has been transferred to ALD from LeasePlan?

The options available to you may depend on whether your agreement is covered by the Consumer Credit Act – 1974 (CCA). If you are a sole trader or small partnership (three partners or less) with an agreement where the total payments due do not exceed £25,000, your agreement will be covered by the CCA.

If your contract is covered by the CCA, this will be stated within the contract.

**Migrated LeasePlan Personal Contract Hire (PCH) and Business Contract Hire (BCH)**

If you have a PCH or BCH agreement and you’d like to end your agreement early, you can ask for an Early Termination quote.

An Early Termination quote calculates what early termination charge will be payable by you to ALD if you end your agreement early. It’s important to note that excess mileage, end of contract damage charges and any other outstanding sums due to either ALD or LeasePlan may not be included in your Early Termination quote. If you have a Finance Lease agreement and you’d like to end your agreement early, you can request an Early Settlement quote.

This Early Settlement quote will show the amount that needs to be paid to end your agreement. You’ll need to arrange to sell the vehicle to a dealership or a third-party company registered on Companies House. Please be aware that the third-party company must be unconnected to you or your business.

You’ll need to return all the signed paperwork to us before arranging for the payment to be made to ALD. We’re happy to accept payment from either you or the company/dealer purchasing your vehicle. We’ll then process this to end your agreement and refund any balance due back to you.

Your contract states that you’ll receive 98% of the sales proceeds. If you sell your vehicle for less than the settlement amount, or an amount that doesn’t cover the 2% due to us, you will be liable to pay the shortfall.

Please be aware that any balance refund due can take up to 14 working days to display in your bank account.
